Annie the Musical!

10! T-E-N!!!! How on earth did we get here??? She's still supposed to be a baby! But alas- I blinked, again. And here we are celebrating 10 wonderful years of being this sweet girl's parents.
As a special gift, I got tickets for her and I to go see Annie at Bass Hall. Annie is one of her favorite movies, and I was excited to get all dressed up and spend some one on one time with my big girl.
She insisted that we wear panty hose and heals...because that's what you wear when you dress fancy!
And little sister was having a "date night" with her Daddy! But she didn't want to be left out of the dressing up or the pictures!
Brenna headed to Ft. Worth early to hit up the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Luckily we got right in!
Oh my heart. I love this beautiful girl more than she could possibly know.
We really wanted cheesecake, but we were SO full after our meals that we couldn't eat dessert if our lives depended on it! So we decided that we would go to our show then come back across and get cheesecake to go. Win- WIN!
Brenna was in heaven going to Bass Hall. And she looked so grown up in all of her posses. It was KILLING me!

Ready for the show to start!
The show was really good, and we both enjoyed it. It was a little long for a 10 year old, but she did great! She only complained towards the end when the story didn't match up with the movie. It totally frustrated her that they changed it! ha! But despite that, we still had a great time.
As soon as the show was over, we headed back to the Cheesecake Factory to pick up our dessert. Unfortunately everyone else at the show seemed to have the same idea- it was packed! But we waited our turn and left with our prized cheesecakes!
And what do you do when you get home at 11:30pm with a bag full of cheesecake? You eat it of course!
It was a great evening with my big girl. I loved the one on one time with her. Time please slow down!!

Happy 80th Birthday Nina!

On January 21st, my Nina turned the big 80! Wow- that doesn't even seem possible. But I am so thankful to have her here with us and still very active in our lives!
Since Brenna's birthday party was on her actual birthday, we celebrated the weekend before. Josh cooked steaks on the grill and Nina came over to spend the afternoon with us! Brenna and Macie had big plans for her when she arrived.... Go cart riding! I tried to convince them that Nina didn't need to be out there bouncing around on the go cart with her shoulder still trying to heal, but they quickly talked her in to it (basically they mentioned it and she said yes!) She said "doesn't everyone go go cart riding when they are 80?" ha! But our Nina is a good sport!
Sometimes you need a little help getting that last leg INTO the go cart....even when you aren't 80!

Brenna took her for a ride first. I figured that would be the safest option....

Then Macie took her... and when I looked out the back door- they were doing donuts around the trees! The good news is that Nina survived.
The steaks were wonderful, as always! And Nina even talked Brenna into trying it! It is now her favorite food. Which means we need an extra steak on steak nights. Thanks Nina.... send $ donations any time..... ha!
And we made peach cobbler for dessert! The girls insisted on candles- duh!
It was a great evening! We enjoyed our Nina time and celebrating her!!
