Last Monday I took my high school interns on a field trip to the zoo. And one of my favorite parts of doing this is that I have always taken one of the girls with me. Brenna went for several years. And Macie has gone for the last 3. Mom has always gone as my extra sponsor since the zoo requires two. Last year was the first time she didn't get to go. She just didn't feel up to it, So Ashley Healey went with me. This year I asked Sara to go with us. It worked out great since Macie Claire adores her Mrs Sara! :) we had a great day.
Macie always looks forward to riding the bus. It's like the biggest treat to her. It's the simple things.. :)
When we got there, we let the big kids go do their thing, and we set off to see the animals.
The elephants are always a big hit. :) and no zoo trip is complete without a picture on the elephant!
Here is a comparison of the last 3 years! I can't believe how much she's grown!
Macie loved feeding the birds this year! Last year she was too scared to hold the food stick. Not this year! She let Sara help her at first.
We even ran into some of my kids feeding the birds too!
When your on a Weatherford field trip you gotta take a picture with the kangaroo!
Macie was soooo excited to ride the carousel! She even rode it alone! It was the first time I didn't ride with her. I was so proud of her!!
After she played for a long time, we were hungry!! So we decided to ride the train back to the eating area. As soon as we got on, I sat down by macie and she quickly got up and moved over by her Mrs Sara! :)
At lunch, we sat by the window and watched this crockadile sleep. Macie was infatuated.
And because we had taken her picture with every other statue at the zoo, we had to pose on the turtle too!
They are a great group! I am thankful to teach these great kids. I'm also thankful for great friends like Sara who was willing to spend her day at the zoo with Macie and I. And who took Macie home with her when we got back to the school! Ha! Macie kept asking to go to her house and after I mentioned going to tan when we got back I heard the two of them whispering about Macie going home with Sara. And yet again, macie ditched me! Haha! When I got there to pick her up, I saw this...
A comfortable little girl who had 4 snacks, went outside and also had a tea party in the 45 minutes I was gone! No wonder she begs to go to Mrs. Sara's house weekly!! Spoiled little girl!
Not sure what I am gonna do next year when Macie is in school. I won't have a kiddo to take with me. I might just have to let one of them skip for the day and go with me!!
