One of the girls' favorite things to do around Christmas is to build a gingerbread house. We kind of put it off until the last minute this year, but we finally got one. This has always been Josh's job. I don't have the patience for it- and my OCD always wants to take over! Ha!
But the girls love it. And their Daddy kind of handed it over to them this year. See- I told you he was better at this than me!
They aren't Mimi's cherry pies- but I think they turned out pretty good!
They got my Daddy's seal of approval!
On Christmas Eve, Dad and I had our annual shopping date. This has been our tradition for many years, but we've always shopped for Mom's Christmas. Mom usually kept the girls while we went. I had kind of thought about this tradition a couple of times over the weeks leading up to Christmas, but I just got sad that it was over and put it out of my mind. However, it wasn't over! Dad told me the week before that he still wanted to keep up our tradition! I can't even tell you what this meant to me. It put a lump in my throat. He told me that we would go eat and shop for his "guy gift" for the gift exchange at the Jackson Christmas. And I had a few last minute things I needed to get- so it worked out great. And in all truth... It isn't really about the shopping at all.
One of the best things that happened in the days leading up to Christmas was this...
She crawled up in my lap and randomly went to sleep! Not once. But TWICE! It was the best present I could have received.
