But- as usual- I sucked it up and got it done! We had a ton more decorations this year due to adding a lot of Moms to our collection. It warmed my heart to see all of her stuff around our house. And it broke my heart all at the same time. I had been dreading Christmas since last February. If I could have skipped it- I would have. But there are two little girls that needed me to hold it together and make it a wonderful Christmas season. So that's exactly what we did.
We traded our tree in for Mom's tree. Hers was new last year, and taller than ours. So it made sense to use hers. It was beautiful.
The table cloth was made by Nina for Mom many years ago. I remember it being on Moms table every year.
She also made end table covers.
I have loved this nativity set since I was little. I have no idea how long Mom has had it, but it's been around as long as I can remember. I always thought it was beautiful.
This cookie jar has several holiday lids that my Mimi painted many years ago. I found the lids at Mom's and took the jar home that I thought they fit. But they didn't! I was so bummed. I was telling Mimi about not having a jar for them while I was there and she said "I think I have one!" And sure enough- she had one in a top cabinet collecting dust- and she gave it to me! And as a bonus- it had a lid that Aunt Rosie had painted on it! It's a chicken.... But I don't care because Aunt Rosie painted it! We enjoyed this Santa over the holidays.
And last but not least.... This beautiful wreath was my birthday present from Aunt Kim this year! I absolutely love it!!!!!
These are just a few of our Christmas decorations from this year. Most of what I took pictures of were Mom's things. I'm so glad to have them. Christmas was her favorite time of year- and I'm thankful to have part of her here to remind us of her each time we look at them.
